Kenneth Smith is a life-time resident of Jamaica, New York.   At an early age he developed an interest in art.   Because of his interest, he majored in commercial art in high school, with a desire to work in advertising.

After serving in the military and working on a few not so interesting jobs, he enrolled in the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he studied Technical Illustration under the noted instructor, Eugene Thompson.  Upon graduation Kenneth entered the technical publication field and retired from Grumman Aero Space as a Senior Computer Graphic Illustrator in 1992.

Although Kenneth had been experimenting with oil paints for a few years, it was not until he graduated from Visual Arts that he really began to paint seriously and enter art shows.   His fine art education was gained mostly from museums, art galleries, good art books and his technical illustrating background.  From realism to abstract art, Kenneth believes it is all about painting what you feel and what you are trying to say.   Kenneth states, "I consider art more than just color on canvas; it is the expression of life.  I am fortunate to have this talent."

Kenneth is the recipient of many awards and also has paintings  in private collections.  His exhibits include, but are not limited to, the following:
